We train dogs AND people!

Competing

I have a small group of people that compete in AKC obedience.  There are 3 titles in obedience. Each more difficult than the last. To earn a title, the dog and handler have to have 3 qualifying scores under 3 different judges.  The titles are: Companion Dog (CD), Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) and Utility (UD).  Any time you these initials after a dog’s name, they have qualified for an obedience title.  It takes a tremendous amount of time, patience and perseverance to earn any of these titles .

Wanda Barbano was in my very first class I taught over 10 years ago. She is currently one of my instructors. She has competed with her Cocker Spaniels and also the German Shepherd shown here.  She has earned 3 Companion Dog titles and 3 Companion Dog Excellent titles.  She is in the process of opening her own grooming shop - Dirty Paws Grooming, located near Addison NY.  Phone: (607) 359-4411

Pete Barbano was also in the first class that I taught. He has competed with 2 Cocker Spaniels and earned 2 Companion Dog titles and 2 Companion Dog Excellent titles.  His dream is to eventually judge AKC Obedience. Good luck Pete!!

This is Mary Anne Monk, also one of my instructors. At this point, she has earned 2 Companion Dog titles and 1 Companion Dog Excellent title. She has competed with a German Shepherd, that due to health had to be retired, and the Border Collie shown here.  She is currently training for the Utility title. Best of Luck, Mary Anne!

Deb Urban started with us a couple years ago.  She began obedience training her Weimeranier that she also uses for hunting. Much to every ones delight, Deb earned her Companion Dog title this summer with very nice scores. She has already begun to train for the next title.  I do believe that she’s hooked on obedience!!  We’ll look forward to seeing her in the ring again - soon!

Our newest title holder is Joy Hinterkopf and her Rottweiler Libby. She finished her Companion Dog title in Syracuse on 11/18/01. They did a superb job, placing second both days that they competed.  Once Joy became less nervous in the ring, Libby did also and they became a great working team!! I’m sure we’ll see more of this pair in the ring in the future.
